I thought you only had good days. I thought light shone through the blinds in that magical way you love - the sun baked down on your face and you never feared the burn. I thought you loved with a heart that couldn’t recognize heartbreak and moved on a wind none of us could feel. I thought God gave to you willingly with both hands and your gracious nature knew no bounds. (I thought wrong.) For the brief moment we passed on the street, I thought I knew you entirely. To see the plight of a stranger, their fear of dangers alone, so transparently worn - like a ratty t-shirt that smells of lost love. I thought i saw an enigma, a paradox within our pained world, but - Assumptions are a dying breed. When i saw you, i thought i saw freedom, I thought i saw hope, But, I thought wrong.
